UrthKynd fosters food security and food sovereignty among socioeconomically disadvantaged communities who are affected most by food apartheid. Our mission is to build sustainable communities where people know their food, their farmer, and each other. In partnership with like-minded community organizations, we provide education in healthy eating and meal preparation, hands-on urban farming training and the building blocks for social enterprise. We believe that by empowering communities to come together to grow, prepare and share the healthy food we can mitigate the hunger that arises in communities marginalized by food apartheid and the unkind practices that are ailing our existing food system.
